UNT REU: Making Generative AI Responsible

Eligibility

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (required by NSF).
• Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student with strong academic record.
• Must have completed at least 1 year of college coursework or equivalent.
• Must attend daily activities in person at the UNT Discovery Park during the 10-week program.

Application Requirements

• Personal Statement (one page)
• Academic Transcripts. Unofficial ones are fine.
• Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV).
• One Reference Letter.

Stipend and Benefits

• $7,000 stipend.
• Housing covered.
• Travel and meal allowance.
• All types of income are taxable.

Important Dates

• April 15, 2026: Application deadline.
• April 20, 2026: Notification of acceptance. Once an offer of acceptance has been extended to an applicant, a confirmation must be received within one week of the offer date.
• May 18, 2026: REU program starting date
• July 24, 2026: REU program ending date
